What does individual therapy look like?
Each session is 50 minutes, offered weekly or biweekly, and follows an active, direct, integrative and collaborative format rather than passive listening. What we help with
Riverside Wellness works with adults navigating a wide range of presenting concerns, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. Sessions are shaped around your specific situation rather than a fixed protocol.
Anxiety therapy
Anxiety shows up differently for everyone. Sometimes it comes as racing thoughts, physical tension, avoidance, or difficulty being present in relationships. Anxiety in relationships in particular is more common than most people admit, and often goes unaddressed because it doesn't look like "textbook" anxiety. Sessions focus on understanding where the anxiety is coming from and building tools to respond to it differently, rather than just managing symptoms in the moment.
Depression therapy
Engaging in therapy for depression at Riverside Wellness start with identifying the patterns that keep us stuck in these feelings. What are the thoughts, behaviors, and experiences that keep depression in place? We work to understand this and then build coping skills that hold up in daily life, not just in the session. The goal isn't just symptom relief, it's helping you reconnect with things that make you feel like yourself again.
Relationship challenges and life transitions
Whether it's a specific relationship or a broader life shift, this work looks at what's changing and why it feels hard. We specialize in the particular stretch of life where the identity, career, and relationship transitions that tend to feel particularly prominent (the late 20s and early 30s). We help clients make sense of a transition period that can otherwise feel disorienting or like something has gone wrong, when it's actually a normal (if intense) part of growing into a new stage of adulthood.
Therapy for polyamorous and non-monogamous clients
At Riverside Wellness, we have a speciality in working with individuals and couples who are exploring their relationship with polyamory and consensual non-monogamy. Clients may come to us with specific dynamics of navigating jealousy, communication, boundaries, and identity within non-monogamous relationships.
